Jeremiah 29:11

In recent years, Jeremiah 29:11 has become hotly debated by scholars because the verse wasn’t written as a general promise to everyone. It was written in a specific context. God's people, the Israelites, were in captivity in a foreign land when the prophet Jeremiah wrote this verse. Through Jeremiah's writings, God reminded the people that they might not experience freedom in their lifetime, but He still has a plan. As those with rebellious hearts suffered the consequences of their sin and those with repentant hearts pleaded for mercy, God promised to provide salvation to their people through a messiah. Little did they know this Messiah, Jesus, would not come until hundreds of years later.

Though these words were written directly to the Israelites, the principles still apply to us today. God is a good God, even when our circumstances are not. He may not fix every hardship immediately, but He will always walk with us in our suffering. Here's the good news: the promised Messiah came more than 2,000 years ago to save all people from sin. This means that you can receive forgiveness for your sin through believing in Jesus, and you can experience God's good plan for your life by building a relationship with Him!

Instead, He invites us to trust in Him and experience the deep love He has for us. When you don't know what to do, you can pray to Him for guidance. He doesn't solve all our problems like we expect Him to because sometimes we're like small children asking for ice cream before dinner. Instead, He has a better plan that will help us thrive with true peace and joy.
